There is no first attack in karate.
Karate is a form of self-defence, but that doesn't mean just learning how to win more fights!
One of the most important teachings in karate is self control - over mind and emotions.
Along with physical strength and suppleness a lot of work goes into achieving the right frame of mind towards all activities.
Karate helps build confidence, focus and respect for yourself and others.
At the end of each training session we close with a short relaxation/meditation ritual.
This clears the mind and releases tension. Most people leave feeling a lot better, both physically and mentally.
Although our club practices a fairly traditional style, a certain amount of etiquette is required,
our aim is to fit karate with the individual not the other way round!
